MidStates Energy Co Completes Transformer Oil Processing Project in Pensacola, FL

Transformer Oil Processing
MidStates Energy completes large Florida project.

MidStates Energy Co is proud to announce the successful completion of a vital project at the Gulf Clean Energy Center in Pensacola, FL, operated by Florida Power & Light (FP&L). Formerly known as Plant Crist, the energy center required comprehensive transformer maintenance to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

TEAM CALLED INTO ACTION

Our team was called in to address 15,000 gallons of transformer oil housed in one of the facility’s key transformers. To begin, we carefully pumped out and securely stored the oil. Next, the transformer bushings were expertly replaced to enhance functionality and reliability.

Once the mechanical work was complete, our focus shifted to restoring the dielectric strength of the transformer oil. Using a state-of-the-art oil processing rig, we conducted three circulations of the oil over a period of 36 hours working around the clock. This extensive process effectively removed contaminants such as water, gases, and oxidation products, greatly improving the quality of the oil.

RESTORATION TO OPTIMAL PEFORMANCE

By completing this project, we not only restored the transformer’s optimal performance but also significantly extended its operational life. This effort is a testament to MidStates Energy Co’s commitment to delivering specialized maintenance solutions that ensure sustainable and efficient energy infrastructure.

We thank FP&L for trusting us with this important project and look forward to continuing to support the growth and reliability of their energy facilities. For more information on our services, visit msenergy.com. You can also REQUEST A QUOTE right now and we’ll get back to you.
